EKO '77 is located in the vibrant centre of Birmingham, taking its name from the Yoruba term for Lagos, the previous capital of Nigeria. The '77 signifies FESTAC '77, the second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture that took place in Festac, Lagos, in 1977. Lagos is celebrated for its rich and varied culinary heritage, influenced by the city's unique history and landscape. Through the name EKO '77, Chef Sekinat honours the city and the cultural roots that have shaped her culinary creations.
